The Global Assistance

Lorem dolor

"TAKING ON" ACCORDING TO THE INTERNATIONAL CLASSIFICATION OF DISABILITY AND HEALTH (ICF)"Anffas feels itself and is a great family that is guided by solidarity principles, respect, friendship and, as service terms, “TAKING ON” people with intellectual and/or relational disability through the elaboration, implementation and continuous test of individualized “life’s projects”.The World Health Organization through the ICF give attention to assume people with problematical “health conditions“.According to ICF, each person that needs help has to be considered in a dual way: not only in an anatomical and physiological way, but first of all in a personal too. According to ICF language; DISABILITY essentially means LIMITATION and RESTRICTION in the PARTICIPATION, in the INVOLVEMENT and in the INCLUSION of a person in the different activities and situations in the daily life. Frequently a capacity and/or a body shape disablement became disability because of negative environmental factors which create barriers in the “performance” at one’s everyday living, from base “domains” like learning and development of basic actions to strong and complex “domains” like school, economic and social life. When an INDIVIDUAL PROJECT is worked out, both of life and of only six months, we have to consider the “environmental factors” giving by ICF, such as: assistance’s products and technologies, relationship and social support, behaviours and prejudices, services, systems and politics. Therefore, to assume not only a physical disablement but also carefully supervise the “environmental factors”, especially the negative ones which can modify a disablement or a limitation in a real DISABILITY, limiting the PARTICIPATION in the daily situations of life.We can find a REAL DISABILITY when the performance (what a person does in his present and real environment) is compromised and confined more than the objective physical disablement. Here is a great lesson by ICF: to assume the person and his whole familiar environment and the life context. ICF is able to demonstrate in a scientific way- using an international codified language that all the operators know- that the only possible way to avoid the DISABILITY is the global assumed. Some specific interventions can increase the “performance” level and they can reveal with precision the environment factor degree, transforming barriers in facilitators.

Parental/users involvement- sharing

Each associative structure has to aim to the specialization of delivered activities ( respecting characteristics and individual needs of people with intellective and relational disability and of theirs families), to definition of specific procedures which have to periodically control the programs’ effectiveness, to the parental involvement in all the levels intervention. The information and involvement rights counts that the family can participate as much as possible in the activity planning (choice right) ,has to know the programme and ,in general, has to share educative aims , targets, time and verification’s modalities, etc. But it isn’t enough. The consciousness of the important family role in cognitive, emotional and behavioural person with disability growth promotion, it has to bring each Associative Structure to include in rehabilitative and socio-educative assistance programs also direct and indirect interventions on families, becoming in this way at the same time help’s recipients and responsible co-authors of a growth process. The work with families has to be developed on two base sides:- duty to establish a continued and fruitful relationship with families, based on a clear information and on listening and help willingness; -talks planning with health and social-health managers of the structure, which has to give safety and confidence to the relation; we have to know parents' educative behaviours and believes so that they could continue to look after theirs sons in a technique way.
